About the Welsh Psychoanalytic Association (WPA)

We are a network of qualified and trainee psychoanalytic psychotherapists (child and adult) practicing in Wales.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is insufficiently represented in Wales. We are therefore committed to :

  • make psychoanalytic psychotherapy more accessible to the public

  • support those who have an interest in psychoanalytic psychotherapy whether personally or professionally

  • provide information on training and events both for members of the public and those working in professions such as health and education

Currently all qualified WPA members are registered with one or more of the following bodies:

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)

The Psychoanalytic and Jungian Analysis Section of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

Both bodies act as voluntary regulators of the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and both have interesting and informative websites of their own.
